It’s official. 360° Panorama Is The New Industry-Standard Name For … well … 360º Panoramas!

A couple of months ago I asked the influential people in the 360º imaging industry what the new industry-standard for our product should be. And they responded, commented and voted. For that I’m sending a big thanks to everybody who participated - THANK YOU. Today I announce the winner.

360º Panorama  (pronounce “360-degree panorama”)
Update May 20th: 360 Panorama is even better, without the ° sign, thanks Aaron for the tip! (read “360 panorama”)
Was this agreed by everybody? Of course not, check out the responses on Quora. However, this seems to be a name which nobody seems to have big problems with. One way or another, this is the name I’m going to push in all my communications now. Possible variations: 360º Sphere Panorama - If you really want to emphasise the difference between cylindrical panos (which are becoming less and less common). Panorama or Pano - If the context is already set, e.g. in an article about 360º panoramas or on a website about 360º panoramas. We are going to use Panorama or Pano on 360cities.net 360º (Sphere) Video - If it’s a video and not a photo Now, of course I understand this is not going to be become an industry-standard just by me announcing it. I’d need a bit more followers for that :) I’ll do everything in my powers do make it a standard, though. I’ll (try to) use only this name from now on in all my communications and marketing. I’ll also try to slowly - within the course of next months - modify all texts on 360cities.net and 360 Cities Help Center to use this new name. Will you help me spread the word please?
