Panoramas vs Photos – Why Do You Care? Why Should Anyone Care?

We are preparing a presentation about panoramas and as a part of it we’d like to explain why panoramas are better than flat photos. We came up with what we think are pretty good answers (see below) and we asked our +360Cities community to come up with their own answers. We received some interesting and inspiring comments and here am I sharing them with you.

This is what we started the discussion with:
====

The amazement, surprise of discovery what is behind (around) the photographer, the discovery of the unseen sides.

You cant fit the whole picture in your camera. (it solves a problem)

Panoramas allow you to wow your viewers / followers.

Panoramas address your audience by more complete, interactive and fun way.

It’s the challenge of doing something cooler than a flat photo that motivates me.

Answers from our community (taken from a forum post here: http://goo.gl/vaOdm):

Panorama show the whole scene that flat photos (crop) are limited.

Help clear the fear of unknown in potential customers (they feel like they know the place)
increase the perception of quality in the eyes of the client (If they have made the effort to use panoramas, surely they are a quality business)
For real estate:
Panoramas increase confidence in the buyer that the seller is not trying to manipulate them. Regular photos try to show the “best angle” which can be misleading, and many buyers are aware of that.

“A specially created computer image that goes all the way around the
viewer. It is a revolutionary way to document a particular place and
time – the next best thing to being there.”

Spherical photography makes possible for the first time in history a feasible way to produce a complete (real) picture. Up until now technology hasn’t allowed a complete image – just painfully restrictive subsets.

I’ve read a nice slogan somewhere, but can’t remember where it was or how exactly it reads. It was something like ..
“Don’t look at the world through the frame, turn around!”-Igor Adamec

Do not limit your world by a frame of photos, rotate it.
