This panorama has been taken with an iPhone 4S using Microsoft Photosynth app. As you can see, with a little practice you can take a good enough panorama with an iPhone. Sure there are some stitching errors and color balance problems but it’s more than OK for a casual use. Most importantly, I didn’t need any special equipment than my iPhone. No special camera was required, no fisheye adapter, no tripod or anything like it. Just my hand and the iPhone. My only wish is that Photosynth was able to save the panoramas in a resolution higher than 4096×2048.
