The search box is at the top of the screen, reachable by scrolling to it (either flick from top to bottom, or tap the toolbar at the top). The magnifier is just a shorcut for scrolling, just like the other letters on the side.

@Chris, I agree with you. I don’t have a problem with this one, but my girlfriend does. You would think that these things would actually improve over time in the iphone interface. The opposite is true, though.

The most annoying thing I find is having the send button for Texts so close to the letters!
I guess I may just be a clumsy typer but the amount of times I have gone to type an ‘i’ or ‘o’ and accidently pressed the ‘Send’ button resulting in the recipient receiving half a text……..

I’m not sure if #9 has been fixed, I tend to not have two phone numbers in one contact anymore. If it has been fixed, good :)

Also the #7 has been fixed in the iOS 4 update.

And may be some other flaws, does somebody dare to investigate? :)

Well I found this site because of the search I just did
“iphone contacts button search too small to tap”
its good to know it is not just me – what a pain
anyone have some software fix that deals with this.

It looks to me that #9 – who called me – from which phone was fixed .. because for me it works fine.
Maybe it was an OS 4.0 thing

ad “Flaw 1: The Tiny Search Button in Contacts” – if you tap on top bar with clocks, radios and battery, it will scroll up to search box (it actually works in almost all scroll views (webpages, sms, …)).
