Inner Worlds – Little Planet 360° Panorama
We spend most of our time and energy in a kind of horizontal thinking. We move along the surface of things [but] there are times when we stop. We sit still. We lose ourselves in a pile of leaves or its memory. We listen and breezes from a whole other world begin to whisper. -James Carroll

Lighthouse Planet
A lighthouse near the Rabo de Peixe fisherman’s village. Little planets are a wonderful way to visualize 360-degree panoramas on a flat surface and to share them as photos.

I took these 360° panoramas (click to open them) while walking on a trail around the Fire Lake (also called Lagoon of Fire, Lagoa das Fogo in Portuguese). The trail offers magnificent views of the lake and the surrounding volcano rim, azure blue water contrasts with the green hills around creating a spectacular show. The inner slopes of the rim are seagull habitat, with hundreds of nests scattered around. There’s one especial cool thing about the upper parts of the trail - you can see both the northern and southern shores of Sao Miguel island, practically overlooking the whole middle part of the island, allowing you to understand how big, or small?, the island really is.
